The words abjure and adjure look so close, it can be hard to separate them. But in reality they are polar opposites.
Abjure, with a B, means to completely repudiate something.
Adjure, with a D, means to earnestly entreat someone to do something.
OK that's cleared up, how are they used? Well, as we need to abjure bad grammar, let me be the first to adjure you to practice proper writing.
Think of it this way. D and B are the only differences. B is Bad, so abjure relates to rejecting something. D is Delightful, so adjure means to want it.
All clear? Good! Now let's abjure sitting in front of computers. Let me be the first to adjure you to get off your chair, get on a motorcycle and go for a ride!

Most days, but not today, since I am off to my writers' group in ninety minutes, and I never take my laptop if I am riding my bike.
