To be fair, is there anything a person can be eaten by that isn't scary? :P

Seems terrifying, for some reason.

Bwaaahaaaahaaaa *deep breath* bwaaaaahaaaaahaaaa

For some reason that really tickled my funny bone.

I find that hunting down and eliminating passive voice makes me search for better verbs.

Passive voice is perhaps an overdependence on victimless living. Active voice tells you that the subject is to blame for what is going on in the sentence.

Instead of saying, "It was found that mold helps kill bacteria." You could say, "Researcher proved that mold kills bacteria." Or something such.

I think that explains a little bit with why I think passive voice is boring. Sometimes it is absolutely necessary and trying to avoid it creates even more cumbersome issues with the sentence. In that case, you know you need your passive voice.

"Blue is a color." Trying to restate without passive voice could end up being wordy and potentially untrue. "Scientists discovered the color blue."

I hope my little examples help.

The passive voice can use all the help it can get, Suli :) Yup, your suggestions help.
