Confirm, conform. Similar looking, yes? But quite different. Let's look at each.

Confirm establishes truth. I can personally confirm that water is wet, that things fall down, and that motorcycles are more fun than cars. Confirm is also used for assurance: Did the motel confirm the reservation?

Some uses of confirm are related to government: An appointee is confirmed into office, the Senate confirms a treaty, etc.

Confirm also implies strengthened resolve. Examples:
Getting a raise confirmed my decision to stay in the job.
The accident confirmed my choice to always wear a helmet.

Good word, confirm. Everyone likes it. How about conform?
Instead of establishing truth, conform shows agreement or accord with the way things are done. "In this weird society, I before E except after C is a rule that conforms with most "ie" and "ei" groupings in English."

So I can confirm, it's good to conform to proper word use. Pick the right one, every time.

I actually never heard of people having trouble with these two words. However, after seeing your clear explanation of both, I can see how some people might confuse them.
