You forgot to mention the Ink, Marconis :D For those of you who might be leary because you don't like to read stuff on a screen, don't be! I didn't think it was possible but it really is like reading an actual page in a book. I swear it. And it's very portable.

You can download books anywhere there's a wireless internet connection. (There's probably a way you can do that without one, I didn't research it because I have wireless). You can even download your own Word and .pdf files onto it (I think you have to send them to an Amazon email address that you set up, I'm not sure, I haven't done it yet). There are also things like magazines and blogs you can subscribe to on it.

Unfortunately, I was unable to find Birth of a Unicorn whilst browsing ;)

The newer models ($189 on Amazon.com) come with built in 3G technology which negates the need for wi-fi, so with that one you really can DL books anywhere :) Bolding in quote is mine :)

And I will continue waiting.

I have wanted a Kindle for some years, but can never get the current model in Canada. Eventually they have to get things straight and sell current models here, and then I will grab one.

With some difficulty, but a Amazon Canada is not set up to work with the newest version of the Kindle and due to Canadian copyright law, books cannot be transmitted from the american Amazon site.

I would be able to get a new model Kindle, but would not be able to put anything on it.

Actually, you can go to any website that does any books (freeebooks.com, etc) and get your books there. The kindle supports all text based files, audio books, and MP3's. Anywhere that you can DL something that you want to read, you can DL to your computer, hook the Kindle up to your comp with the included USB cable and add the books to the device that way. I have DL'ed a TON of free stuff from different sites and have added them to mine. I also have my Disturbed MP3's on there, so that I can listen to music while I read :) . It really is an amazing device.
