I had a really wonderful experience in the bookstore this morning, one I don't have often.
So I'm walking, right, seeing if anything look good. Ooh, pretty magic cover. I pick it up, read the back, sigh. It's just like all the others I've learned to avoid. I go to the back, see this awesome-looking grey and black cover, pick it up. I'm caught, just like that. The back of the book gets me all excited, so I read the prologue. Then I have to leave, but while I'm sitting waiting for the bus, the wording of the prologue is going through my head, words and images... I'm so excited to read this book, and I really hope it holds up to my expectations. We shall see.
The books is The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss. It's his first book. Oh, I do hope it is good...

I'm all a-lather to read it just from the description!! So far, you guys haven't steered me wrong. I am reading the Pellinor series and loving it, read Armor and thoroughly enjoyed it - lead on you two (three if you count Sel).

Well, I'm on page 121 (out of 661) of this book, and I love it.
I've laughed out loud more times than I've kept track of. I've been close to tears. And the story has hardly started. I've had moments of triumph and wonder.
This man's characters may play the lute, but his words have reached into me to play the strings of my heart.
I wish I could write like this.
I'm so glad I found this book. *goes back to reading*

Well, I finished it tonight.
I think I can safely say this is one of the most beautiful books I have ever read. I have tears in my eyes.
I can't wait until the second one comes out...

But I've bookmarked the site to remind me!

Yes, there will be a sequel, The Wise Man's Fear. But I don't know when it's coming out. I think there is no official release date yet. Rothfuss is still editing. I can't wait, though.
Here's an excerpt from it. No idea if this will be how it is when he's done editing...

He did write them all at once. He's been working on this whole saga for years. I also found a good interview with him, I'll see if I can find it again. He's only editing the books one at a time, so that's the wait. And his wife is having (or recently had?) a baby.
EDIT: Here's the interview:
Part 1
Part 2

*fidget* When's the next one out again? I'd have waited to start it if I'd realized, lol. I loved this! I wouldn't say poetical or prose but amazing storytelling that transcends both
Also, been reading his blog about book 2, he seems like a pretty cool guy, too.
